Congratulations
Alexander & Megan
Wedding Date: October 12, 2013 in Philadelphia, PA
How They Met: Alex and I grew up around the corner from each other in Fishtown. According to our parents, we "met" in a dance class when he was 3 and I was 5. We remember meeting in 1999 through mutual friends. We remained friends until 2002 when we both came to the realization that we liked each other more than friends. We have been together ever since.
The Proposal: Most guys want their proposals to be romantic. Alex is different. He promised me one thing, that his proposal would be random. He kept his word. We had talked about getting engaged but our 10th anniversary was coming up later in the year so I thought he would propose then. The day he proposed, getting engaged was probably the furthest thought from my mind. We had spent the day with his family for his niece's baptism. We came home, excited to watch The Walking Dead, which is one of our favorite shows. After the show was over, I began to get ready for bed. I had already put on my pajamas and was about to lie down when Alex started to sing "Birthday" by the Beatles. I reminded Alex that it was actually my half birthday, I was now 26 and a half years old. He said that since it was my half birthday that he needed to get me a present. I asked him what kind of present. At first he named food and I told him I didn't want food. He said he was going to get my present. He left the room and I thought nothing of it. When he returned, he sat on the edge of the bed and reached into his pocket. Then he knelt in front of the bed, opened the box, and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked. I asked him if it was real (not the ring, but if the moment was actually happening). He reassured me it was and then I said yes. I was so overcome with excitement that I could not stop giggling. It might not have been the most romantic proposal but it was definitely random!
