Zephyr & Cassandra
Wedding Date: October 12, 2012 in Glen Foerd Mansion
How They Met: Zephyr and I met when my best friend from UArts became his roommate. I was just moving home from living in Grand Cayman and we all went to a Phillies game. Several months went by and we would spend time together with friends, cooking dinners, going out for a drink and just hanging out. It wasn't until the very end of summer 2009 that I asked Zephyr when was he going to ask me out? It wasn't till a week later when I received a phone call of him asking me out on our first real date.
The Proposal: After almost two and half years of dating Zephyr proposed. Here is how he did and how we announced it to our families on Christmas Eve 2011...
"Twas Ten Days Before Christmas in Jamaica"
Twas ten days before Christmas, when all over the beach
Not a creature was stirring, except for Zephyr the sneak.
Dinner plans were set and planned with much care,
While Cassandra got ready and messed with her hair.
She finally put on her make-up and dress,
While Zephyr waited patiently watching ESPN no less.
And finally they were ready for the dinner he planned,
So they walked to the dock off the beach hand in hand.
When out on the gazebo arose such a clatter,
Zephyr said no worries, the wind will not matter.
Down the dock to the gazebo they went,
To a perfectly set table with wine and refreshment.
The moon hit the ocean and glistened just so,
As the stars twinkled on objects closely below.
The waiter poured white wine and served course one,
With a setting so perfect all Cassandra could say is Yeah mon!
Tiger shrimp cocktail and tropical fruit started the meal
All Cassandra could think was what a great deal.
As soon as they were done, course two then came,
The wind started to die down as the tiki torches held their flame.
George the personal waiter then announced he would be right back,
He was going to the kitchen to get the best of their snacks.
Arriving back to the gazebo he came with their plates,
Caribbean spiny lobster tail and a pair of filet steaks!
Red wine was poured as they ate the main dish,
Cassandra saw a shooting star and Zephyr said, make a wish.
Her reply was, I did. It is the wish I always make,
When will you make an honest woman out of me for goodness sake!
Zephyr then laughed and said dont worry,
It will happen soon, theres no need to hurry.
She thought to herself, I guess not tonight.
But what a perfect setting, it would have been just right!
The main course was finished and their plates were then taken,
Both their bellies were full from all that they had partaken.
George was then back to serve course number three,
A fresh array of tropical fruits for a far as could be seen.
A bottle of champagne was now to be opened,
As Zephyr had only kind words to be spoken.
His words were beautiful as he exclaimed his love,
And how happy she made him and she is all he dreamed of.
And at the moment he got out of his chair,
And down on one knee, he held a ring with such care.
This is why I am asking you now, Cassie-girl will you marry me?
Are you for real!? Cassandra shouted with glee.
She then grabbed his face with both her hands,
So excited that this was all part of his plans.
They kissed several times as they held each other tight,
What a wonderful end to their romantic dinner night!
And without hesitation she answered his questions with a YES!
She told him I feel so incredibly blessed!
And then on the finger the ring he placed,
She could not get over the sparkle it displaced
Zephyr then stood as they continued to kiss,
And Cassandra thought about her single wish.
It came true that night under the Jamaican sky,
I love you so much she said with a sigh.
