How They Met: South Jersey Princess meets Portuguese Prince at a mid-summer nights soiree in center city. That's the basic story line for the start of Pedro's two year courtship. At a mutual friends surprise 50th birthday celebration, I was introduced to the most genuine, loving, and witty man I have ever met. My passion of the Philadelphia dining scene and Pedros eagerness to explore his palette fortified our bond. Tender sweetbreads at Matyson, smooth hummus at Zahav, Los Taquitos de Pueblas short rib tacos, and Federal Donuts glazed chicken; these aromas and textures became little a part of our love story. Each flavor recalling a moment in time when my heart grew more in love with him.

The Proposal: An all time favorite movie of mine is Somethings Gotta Give with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson. In one, scene they agree to meet in Paris to celebrate their birthdays in January. To celebrate my birthday this January, Pedro and I jetted off to Paris for the week. After dining at Le Grand Colbert which does in fact have amazing roast chicken, we went on a stroll towards the Seine. In a square outside of the Louvre, Pedro asked for my hand, heart, and partnership for life.
