How They Met: May 31, 2007 was a day full of anxiety as a prepared myself to take my placement tests at Temple University. Little did I know, I was going to meet the man that would change my life forever. After hours of tests, I waited in the lobby as my friends finished their Spanish placement. I noticed a blonde hair, blue eyed guy discussing with his friend about the "interesting" people that were at Temple. I decided to chime in with a witty comment because 1. I talk to everyone and 2. This was college! I had to make friends. After a 10 minute conversation, we all parted ways. There are 35,000 students at Temple, what are the chances I'd ever see him again? Apparently I should have bet on it, because two months later I ran into him at orientation and again once the semester started. We finally exchanged numbers and met up with our friends for dinner. The rest is history. James became one of my closest friends that first year of college and by the end we realized fate truly brought us together for a reason.
The Proposal: James' birthday was November 30th and we decided to go to NYC to see the Christmas tree lighting ceremony as the Rockefeller building. As a surprise I wanted to take him on the tour of the Top of the Rock. He had only been to NYC one other time, so I wanted him to get to see the whole view of the city. Apparently, I wasn't so sneaky since he knew we were going there and had a bigger surprise for me. As we got to the top deck of the building, we took in the amazing view of the city. As people began to clear out, James turned to me and said, "Can I have one more birthday present?" I replied, "Of course!" not thinking any thing of it. Before I could say another word, he got on one knee with a ring in his hand and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. After complete and utter shock, I finally said yes! It was a perfect, romantic moment that I wouldn't have wanted any differently.
