How They Met: Mike and I first met when we were freshmen in high school. We were close friends for almost four years. Our friendship was so strong we did not want to date, in fear of jeopardizing it. Finally, at the end of our senior year we realized how deep our feelings were for each other. After a romantic stroll in Playwicki Park we held hands for the first time and haven't let go since.
The Proposal: We are both 2010 graduates of Penn State University. Penn State was and will always be an important part of our lives. The weekend of February 5th Mike and I traveled back up to Penn State to visit friends. That Saturday morning he asked me if I wanted to walk around campus "to see if anything had changed since we last visited". During a stroll on College Ave Mike suggested that we go to Old Main, my favorite spot on campus, to take a picture. He asked me to take the picture first, knowing full well that I would fiddle with camera. And of course he was right! After fumbling a few minutes with the camera I looked up and Mike was down on knee in the rain with the most adorable smile. I jumped on him and said "yes!" before he could even get up off his knee. Mike later told me that he chose Old Main because he wanted a spot where our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the generations to follow, to know the story of our love and how he asked me to be his forever.
