Congratulations
Christopher & Noelle
Wedding Date: November 30, 2012
How They Met: I met my fianc Noelle at a Halloween party in 2008. She was dressed as a cowgirl and I was sporting a Jersey Shore esque guido costume. Basically, I looked like an idiot. We met that night but didnt hit it off until the next time we saw each other. This time she didnt recognize me at first without my blow out haircut and fake tanner on my face.. so we had lots to talk about. To make a long story short, we fell in love..hard. I had been saving for her ring pretty much since we started dating. You hear people say youll just know when he/she is the one. Unless youre in the position of feeling that way you easily think it sounds ridiculous.. but in this case we both just knew.
The Proposal: Its A Wonderful Life has always been my favorite movie. Although its just a movie, Its easy to fall in love with the story, the people, and the town it takes place in, Bedford Falls, after watching it even just once. Maybe its the innocence of the time or the charm of the people and town that have made me enjoy it every time, but all I know is that everything about it is special to me. But now even more so. I bought Noelles ring on her birthday, 9/17/2010. The ring was burning a hole in my pocket so to speak..i just wanted to ask her all the time, but I wanted to make it as special as possible. So I planned us a surprise trip to Seneca Falls, NY. which brings me back to the movie. Seneca Falls was the home town of director Frank Capras aunt who he visited often. The town of Bedford Falls from the movie was built on a giant enormous movie set. When I found that out I was disappointed to know that it wasnt even a real town. But it was. Frank Capra modeled the movie town after his aunts town of Seneca Falls because he loved it so much. Everything from the look of the town, the location, the bank on the corner, the small town feel and most importantly the small bridge are just like the movie. The town is known as The Real Bedford Falls Before I finish how it happened, I want to mention Noelles dream she had two weeks before we left. She said she had a dream that the surprise birthday trip I was taking her on was to the Finger Lakes. We had gone there to Canadigua the year before on our way back from Niagara Falls and loved it. I had already booked our trip having no idea that Seneca Falls was part of the Finger Lakes region. She also said that I gave her something shiny in the dream. I was weirded out at first, but then I realized how neat it was that she dreamt pretty much what was going to happen..which made it a billion times cooler and more..I guess the most appropriate word is magical. When we started seeing signs for the Finger Lakes she got really excited and couldnt believe she dreamt it and that it was coming true. Still had no idea I had her ring in my coat pocket and that I was going to ask her that day. So then we arrived where we were staying at the Hotel Clarence (named and themed after the angel that saves George Bailey on the bridge in the movie). We walk in and there on a big wall is Its A Wonderful Life being played through a projector. She loves the movie as much as me so she got really excited and finally I told her where we were and she loved everything about it. We walked around the town and pointed out all the similarities from the movie. Then we went around by the river where we could see the bridge. It gave me butterflies right when I saw it..and thats when my hands started getting sweaty. I did my best to not hold her hand because I knew shed know something was up. We got to the bridge. The street the bridge was on was called George Bailey Blvd and on the other side Bedford Falls Lane. Noelle took a million pictures and when her back was turned I finally built up the courage to ask. I said Well I made part of your dream come true what if I told you I could make the other part come true? She didnt believe me of course and smiled big and told me to shut up and turned away. At that point I got down on my knee and asked her to marry me. It couldnt have worked out any better. The movie is special to me and now even more so because every time I watch it from now on I get to think of that perfect day for the rest of my life. P.S. she said yes.
