Congratulations
Bill & Jaymie
Wedding Date: June 17, 2013 in St. John USVI
How They Met: Jaymie and Bill met while working together at their first post-college employer. It wasn't love at first site, at least not for Jaymie, Jaymie didn't think much of Bill when she first met him. In fact she thought he was down right arrogant and cocky. Over the next three years, Bill slowly worked his way into her heart, and they became best friends, their still best friends today, they just added some intimacy, a few more sleep-overs, a ton more laughs, two dogs (shout out to Gracie and Zoey) and wha-lla, two best friends are getting married!
The Proposal: Jaymie and I had a planned vacation to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands with a few other friends in June 2012. I knew I was going to propose while we were there since January, I just didn't know how. The only thing I do know is that I wanted it to be original, and not like anything I had ever heard before. Well.... like a lot of people that I know, I am obssessed with Groupon, and came accross a deal for turning any picture into a puzzle.... the wheels started turning. I thought what if I made a puzzle asking her to marry me. I went home from work during lunch one day, changed into a suit, made a sign, grabbed our dog (the real love of Jaymie's life!), sat on a stool, with the dog and my sign "will you marry me"... sent it off to the puzzle makers, and a few weeks later I had a 16X20 puzzle that was 150 pieces. This was still a risk though, as I had no clue if she likes puzzles, or if on vacation in the carribean I could even get her attention long enough for a puzzle! Well, lucky me, one awesome morning (as most morings are in the carribean), we took a short walk to a beach with zero people on it, I was carrying the puzzle and the ring, in my backpack, along with a blanket, just as I suggested we sit down for a minute, it started raining... SERIOUSLY?! I insisted we sit anyway, then pulled out the puzzle and asked her to put it together in the rain! I held the last two pieces with the actual sign out until the end, when she got to those last two I handed them to her, and as she put them in, I took the ring out, nestled my knee in the sand and asked... She said YES, and we are getting married in St. John on the same date that we got engaged, one year later.
