Music: 7 Shows to See in Philly This Week

Bruce Springsteen, Adele and Boy George are in town, and you probably have a strong opinion about at least one of them.

The Heavy @ TLA | Tuesday, September 6
British rock band The Heavy just kicked off a North American tour in support of their album Hurt and the Merciless with a sold-out show last night in Boston. You’ve heard their song “How You Like Me Now?” in a ton of movies and commercials. And if you want to weigh in, they did request cheesesteak recommendations ahead of their Philly stop.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band @ Citizens Bank Park | September 7 and 9
If you’re a fan, you already got your tickets three months ago and don’t need me telling you the Boss is playing here Wednesday and Friday. If you’re not, you might enjoy reading this.

Steven Tyler @ Tower Theater | Wednesday, September 7
Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler is on tour for his solo country album, We’re All Somebody from Somewhere. His voice is so distinctive it didn’t quite register as country for me, just as Steven Tyler singing.

Culture Club @ Electric Factory | Friday, September 9
Boy George and the rest of the original Culture Club lineup — Roy, Mikey and Jon — are reunited for a 2016 tour. Groves is on the road with them; in Philly DJ Robert Drake opens the show. I was about to include the video for “Karma Chameleon,” but I think we can all get behind this:

Adele @ Wells Fargo Center | September 9 and 10
Hello, it’s Adele. I was wondering if after all these years, you’d like to meet at the Wells Fargo Center. Hello, can you hear me?

Amos Lee @ Academy of Music | Sunday, September 11
Philly native Amos Lee brings his soulful rock home on Sunday. Jazz singer Laurin Talese, a University of the Arts grad, is the special guest.

Widespread Panic @ The Mann | Sunday, September 11
Sadly, outdoor concert season is coming to a close — so embrace it while ye may. Widespread Panic is on tour for their 12th album, Street Dogs.
