The Secret Garden @ Arden Theatre Company | Though Sunday, June 26
Based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s 1911 novel, this musical tells the story of a 10-year-old orphan sent to live with an unwelcoming uncle. Spoiler: She finds a secret garden. The show was scheduled to close June 19 but it’s been extended.

Rock on Pointe @ TLA | Thursday, June 23
In Rock on Pointe’s debut show, the ballet dancers skip the Tchaikovsky in favor of hits from the 1970s, from the likes of Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Fleetwood Mac and other radio staples.

If/Then @ Academy of Music | Through Sunday, June 26
Original Broadway cast members Jackie Burns and Anthony Rapp star in the touring production of If/Then, which is kind of like that Gwyneth Paltrow movie Sliding Doors. Burns was also Elphaba in Wicked and you’ll recognize Rapp as Mark from Rent, both the Broadway and film versions.

Growth/Decay: A Dual City Exhibition @ Paradigm Gallery + Studio | Friday, June 24
Paradigm co-curated this show with Antler Gallery in Portland, Oregon, with all the artwork sharing the themes growth and decay. The growth pieces will be here, while Portland gets the decay. The opening reception is Friday but you can check out the exhibit until August 20.

Cabaret @ The Ghostlight Players | June 24-26
Come hear the music play at this community theater production of Cabaret, the racy Tony-winning show set in a Berlin nightclub in 1931.

Foreword: Hannah Doerksen and Kristen Neville Taylor @ Pilot Projects | Saturday, June 25
Pilot Projects describes Hannah Doerksen and Kristen Neville Taylor as “two artists whose works can loosely be understood as site-responsive immersive installation.” I understood that very loosely, but gleaned from the rest of it that they combine everyday objects with sculptures. The opening reception is Saturday and the exhibit is up through July 23.

Live/Work @ Icebox Project Space | Saturday, June 25
Icebox put together an exhibit of art from amateurs: Philly-area residents age 26 and under who aren’t in a degree program. The opening reception is Saturday and it runs through July 16.

Jamaica @ New Freedom Theatre | Through Sunday, June 26
It’s tropical living versus the big city in this musical comedy, which has Savannah deciding if she should marry the wealthy New Yorker visiting her island and relocate. My vote is to stay on the island with beaches and palm trees.
