Internet Cat Video Festival Coming to Bryn Mawr
Paws the presses! The Bryn Mawr Film Institute recently announced it’s hosting the touring version of the of the Internet Cat Video Festival, which is coming to the theater on April 20th.
The Internet Cat Video Festival is a product of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. It began in 2012 and was founded “as a modest celebration to bring online communities together in the real world.”
The festival has also been touring since 2013, and this year’s tour is billed as the final Internet Cat Video Festival.
Before the screening, Main Line Animal Rescue will have “frisky photo ops, trivia and a coloring station” in the atrium. You get a free small popcorn if you dress in cat-related clothing. Pull out that “Cats love me” shirt from of bottom of your drawer and play the part if you’re going. To note: You’re not allowed to bring your cat to the festival.
The Walker Art Museum is donating all its cat ephemera to the Minneapolis Historical Society after it wraps up the Internet Cat Video Festival this year. It, though, hopes the idea lives on in, um, copycat festivals.
