The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon will zip down to Philly after a taping of his show on Monday to speak at a special ceremony inducting his house band, the Roots, into the Philadelphia Music Alliance’s Walk of Fame. The sold-out gala is taking place on October 26th at the Fillmore.

Fallon’s participation in the event has become somewhat of a Tonight Show tradition. Johnny Carson was here in 1989 when Ed McMahon was inducted, and, in 2010, Jay Leno‘s longtime music director Kevin Eubanks scored a plaque along the Avenue of the Arts.

The Roots are one of several local stars being inducted into the Class of 2015. Their fellow honorees include Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel, jazz legend Billie Holiday, Cinderella, The Trammps, Andrea McArdle, and WOGL’s Harvey Holiday.  Saturday Night Live alum Joe Piscopo will host the event, with slated special appearances by folks like Dionne Warwick, Sonny Hill and Jerry Blavat.

The actual revealing of the plaques will happen earlier that day, at 11 am in front of the Kimmel Center. For more information on this year’s inductees and the ceremonies, check out the Philadelphia Music Alliance website here.
