Italian Market Getting Huge Wishwall Art Installation During Papal Visit

There’s another kind of “fence” going up during the Papal visit, but this one is kind hearted, much more welcoming, and located in South Philly.

The Wishwall Foundation will be building Philadelphia’s first ever “wishwall” at the 9th Street Italian Market on September 26 and 27 from 11 am to 6 pm each day. Guests are invited to craft a unique wish, prayer, or intention and post it on the wall, essentially creating a massive, immersive art installation that has a feel-good vibe.

The Piazza at 9th and Montrose will be temporary tented off during the event, featuring big-screen televisions and chairs to watch the Pope’s Mass. In addition to the giant wishwall, there will be arts and crafts, entertainment, refreshments, and other family-friendly activities.

The Wishwall Foundation “is a non-profit charitable organization and social community, focused on making dreams come true through the help of a global network of dedicated staff, volunteers, supporters, donors and members of their online community.” You can find out more about their work by visiting this link.
