Philadelphia History Museum Throwing a 20s-Style Cocktail Party

Philadelphia History Museum is kicking it old school. The establishment’s Young Friends group is hosting a garden party called Cocktails in the Courtyard that will have dresses flapping to the Turkey Trot.

Travel back to a time when bobs were in and alcohol was out—though they’ll breeze past that latter fact at this party. Liquor will not only be in abundance at the festivities, it’s bound to be a main attraction. It is 2015 after all—and you’ll need some liquid encouragement before you attempt the Charleston.

Guests can choose from a variety of seasonal favorites, like gin and tonics sponsored by Philadelphia Distilling, and participate in a Whiskey-tasting, courtesy of WhistePig Rye Whiskey. Twenties-style fare provided by Brûlée Catering will accompany the happy hour specials along with Bassett’s Ice Cream sandwiches to silence your inner child. Lore’s Chocolates will hand out sweet party favors at the end of the night, so be sure to save some room.

There will be music by Morgan’s Pier and Johnny Brenda’s mainstay DJ Jamie Dillon, and “in plain air” paintings courtesy of local artist Andy Greenlee. Her works will be auctioned off at the end of the night to benefit the Philly History Museum.

The cocktail party is just one of many events hosted by Young Friend’s throughout the year. The group consists of over 450 young art enthusiasts between the ages of 21 and 45 who are committed to supporting the Philadelphia History Museum.

Cocktails in the Courtyard takes place June 25th from 6 to 9 pm. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 general admission. To purchase them and find out more about the event, click here.
