Bradley Cooper Nominated for Tony Award for The Elephant Man


The nominations for the 69th annual Tony awards were announced this morning, and, as expected, Bradley Cooper has been nominated in the “Best Lead Actor, Play” category for his portrayal of the severely deformed protagonist John Merrick in the Broadway revival of The Elephant Man. According to IMDB, this is his first Tony nomination.

Cooper is nominated alongside Steven Boyer (Hand to God), Ben Miles (Wolf Hall), Bill Nighy (Skylight) and Alex Sharp (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time). The Elephant Man is up for four nominations in total, in the categories of “Best Revival, Play,” “Best Featured Actor, Play” for Alessandro Nivola, and “Best Featured Actress, Play” for Patricia Clarkson. Plays An American in Paris and Fun Home lead the pack with 12 nominations each.
