DO THIS: Valentine Card-Making Night at Paper Source

This weekend, I stopped into my local Paper Source on Walnut Street to pick up a few cards, when I noticed one of their quite popular paper workshops going on in the back of the store. I’ve never heard grown adults doing so much “oohing” and “aahing” over glitter and stickers in my life: These people were genuinely having a great time making all kinds of goodies out of stamps, embossing tools, and envelopes.

I must admit, in this age of email and electronic communication, there is something soothing and downright cool about creating works with paper, and those interested in joining the fun are in luck. There’s an upcoming “Valentine Card Making Crafter’s Night Out” at Paper Source on Thursday, January 29th starting at 6pm. Crafty students will learn how to construct cards using heat embossing tools, create stickers, and make origami hearts.

The workshop, which includes light refreshments, costs $30, and you get a 10 percent-off coupon for your next purchase at the store (because we all know you’ll be leaving with a bag full of new paper toys to play with at home). If you register with a friend, you get 10 percent off the cost of the workshop. More information, including registration info, can be found here.

There’s also a ton of Paper Source locations in the greater Philadelphia area where you can get your craft on: Center City, Ardmore, Paoli, and Marlton.
