Taylor Swift Getting First-Ever Dick Clark Award at American Music Awards

Wyomissing native Taylor Swift will be getting a special award at this Sunday’s American Music Awards—the first ever Dick Clark Award for Excellence.

According to AP, Swift nabbed the award for her consistent string of record-setting sales, which continued this year with 1989. The nod to ’80s pop sold 1 million units in the first week it was released last month.

Plus, it seems like Clark may have been a little gaga over Swift. A statement from his wife Kari reads, “The first time Dick saw Taylor perform, he knew she was something special.”

The American Music Awards kick off Sunday on ABC with a performance by Taylor Swift, the debut of her new single, “Blank Space,” which scored a No. 1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 this week. Hear that below:
