If you tuned in to NBC’s The Voice on September 23rd, you may have seen a familiar face. Jimi Milligan, of Philadelphia’s The Big House Band, sang The Temptations’ “Get Ready” for the celebrity judges during the show’s Blind Auditions.

Milligan was one of just a few dozen contestants to perform for Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, and Blake Shelton after over 100,000 performers responded to open calls. Though Milligan was not selected for one of the judges’ teams, he received plenty of compliments from the hit-makers. Shelton said, “I think you’re a really good singer,” and Williams agreed, while Adam Levine said, “You did a great job.”

The Big House Band is one of the area’s top special events bands, which Milligan has been part of for 18 years. Playing weddings, clubs, bars, casinos and more throughout the tri-state area, they average 250 dates per year.

So far only two other Pennsylvanians have made it to this season’s Blind Auditions: Danica Shirey of York and Chris Jamison of Pittsburgh. A few other local faces have graced The Voice stage in the past, including Yardley’s Matthew Schuler, who made it to 6th place during Season 5.
