Chelsea Handler Signs Deal to Host Talk Show on Netflix

You won’t be seeing E! talk show host Chelsea Handler on prime time, but Out magazine reports that she has signed a rather intriguing deal to host a talk show on Netflix. More:

After months of speculation, fans finally have an answer to what’s Chelsea Handler’s next move following the news that she was leaving the E! network when her contract expires later this year. On Thursday, Netflix announced that the comedian signed a new deal with the growing network to produce a new talk show as well as debut an hour long stand-up special, which will premiere on Oct. 10.

The stand-up special — a first for the comedian — will be based on her her tour in support of her latest book,Uganda Be Kidding Me.

The talk show, which arrives to streaming devices in 2016, will update her current format seen on Chelsea Lately but still feature guest interviews and unfiltered commentary.

The deal with Netflix also calls for four docu-comedy specials produced by and starring Handler as she attempts to explore cultural topics, such as NASCAR, Silicon Valley and the NBA draft.
