Nominations for the 68th annual Tony Awards were announced yesterday, and Rocky gets four mentions. Among them is a Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical nod for Andy Karl, who we profiled in the magazine in January. The show is also up for Best Choreography, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, and Best Scenic Design of a Musical.

Rocky isn't the only Philly connection, however. Germantown Academy grad Jarrod Spector is up for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical trophy for his performance in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Check out the full list of nominees here. And read our review of Rocky on Broadway here.

Another Philly connection. Virgil Gadson, a Mt. Airy native, is a highlighted dancer in After Midnight, which received 7 nominations including best musical and choreography.
