Joan Jett to Front Nirvana at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Rumors are swirling that Wynnewood, Pa. rocker Joan Jett will front Nirvana at tonight’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. From Yahoo Music:

The rampant speculation began on April 8 when Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl posted a photo on Instagram (below) of Krist Novoselic’s black Gibson bass, Pat Smear’s purple/blue Fender Stratocaster guitar and a third guitar in the back that’s appears to be a white Melody Maker owned by Jett. The instrument is decorated with numerous stickers including “girls kick,” “fetish” (a Jett song), two pink female figures standing side by side, and a peace sign.

If the rumors stand true, Jett won’t be the only local star to grace tonight’s stage. Hall and Oates, and the E Street Band are among this year’s inductees, along with KISS, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Andrew Loog Oldham, and Beatles manager Brian Epstein. The ceremony takes place at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center.
