Spring Entertainment Lineup Announced at The Porch at 30th Street Station


In what is an act of excellent timing, The Porch at 30th Street Station releases its spring programming lineup on this glorious first day of spring. There’s a whole itinerary of music and theater goings-on, including live dance by MM2 Modern Dance Company, a Clay Studio pop-up and more.

To kick if off, WXPN will begin Local Wednesdays, a live-music concert happening at noon on the first Wednesday of every month. First up is singer-songwriter Ginger Coyle on April 2nd. There will also be a Lunchtime Accordion Serenade every Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m.

Here’s what else is on the schedule:

WHO: Naked Start
WHAT: Taking Up Space. Five women dressed in red command the space as they perform dynamic, eye-catching movement inspired by endurance and aggression.
WHEN: Sunday, April 6th, 12pm and 2pm

WHO: Philadelphia Photo Arts Center
WHAT: Digital Photo Booth. Step inside this hand painted, whimsical booth and take unique portraits. Receive your printed photo and be included in the gallery on display at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center.
WHEN: Monday, April 7th through Friday, April 11, and Monday April 14 through Friday, April 18, 11:30am – 2:30pm

WHO: Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University
WHAT: Academy On-The-Go. Unique touchable specimens, fossils, skulls, live invertebrates, and experiments, the Academy’s program encourages you to look, investigate and engage with the wonders of the natural world.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 9 – 12pm – 2pm; Saturday, April 19 – 11am – 1pm

WHO: Please Touch Museum
WHAT: Roadside Attractions.  A discussion of trains and automobiles told through stories and dramatic games will encourage all to use their imaginations.

WHO: University City Arts League
WHAT: Aerium Demo and Workshop. Celebrate spring with this make and take Aerium workshop. Learn how to build and care for aeriums with air plants.
WHEN:  Wednesday, April 16, 11:30am – 2pm

WHO: The Clay Studio
WHAT: Wheels of Battle. In this Pop Up Ceramic Studio two artists at a time will compete head to head on the potters wheel in a series of battles including “tallest vessel”, “blind-fold throw” and “mug race.”
WHEN: Saturday, April 26, 2pm – 6pm

WHO: MM2, Modern Dance Company
WHAT: Breath. Dancing with full breath can facilitate the movement of our bodies, allowing for them to flow freely through a space. MM2 utilizes contemporary movement that connects both dancer and audience in a meaningful way.
