UPDATE, 2/10, 11:30 a.m.: Damon Feldman says that the George Zimmerman boxing match is not canceled.
UPDATE: Under pressure from the growing opposition to the George Zimmerman/DMX boxing match, fight promoter Damon Feldman has indicated that Zimmerman will not appear at the Philadelphia press conference next week.
George Zimmerman agreed to fight in a celebrity boxing match, but now he may be biting his tongue. Buzzfeed reports that the man who was found not guilty for the murder of Florida teen Trayvon Martin will fight DMX.
“I am going to beat the living fuck out him,” the rapper told TMZ. “I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I fuck him right up.”
And that's before the official announcement's even been made. Buzzfeed says that promoter Damon Feldman was supposed to release the information today — what would be Martin's 19th birthday — but decided to wait after people on Twitter called him out for being insensitive.
Feldman told Buzzfeed that DMX was chosen out of a list of 15,000 who applied to fight Zimmerman, including Lindsay Lohan's dad (womp) and former Baywatch star Jeremy Jackson (womp-womp.)
I think they chose well. Don't you? I mean, if you're in to this kind of thing.
