HughE Dillon: Lagos 35th Anniversary Party

Philadelphia-based jeweler celebrates at XIX.

Philadelphia magazine hosted the Philadelphia-based jeweler Lagos 35th anniversary party at XIX Restaurant on Tuesday night. It was an intimate gathering with good friends and family. A “35th anniversary collection” from Lagos celebrates all of its past collections. It takes ideas from some pieces and updates others. Pictured: Mia Colona, Lisa Nutter, Steven Lagos, and Mary K. Dougherty, Nicole Miller boutiques. Both Lisa and Mary are wearing the Lagos Heart of Philadelphia.

Below: Karen Bliss, VP of marketing at Advanced Sports International (another great Philadelphia-based company, ASI owns five bicycle product brands: Fuji, Kestrel, SE, Breezer and Oval Concepts, and licenses a fifth brand, Terry Precision Bicycles for Women), and Pepper Krach, M.F. Irvine Corporate Solutions (she was once a model for Lagos).

Below: Angela Izzo and Kate Coll wearing a few pieces from the 35th anniversary collection. MUSE features a sapphire collection that touches on the Lagos signature designs such as the link, the fluting and caviar. Steven Lagos told the crowd that he received his inspiration from his parents, who both had an interest in art and encouraged him to follow his dream. There’s a lot of passion that Lagos puts into his collection, and Neiman Marcus has been carrying his line for the past 28 years.

Below: Mark Tarasiewicz and Carlo Fiammenghi. The duo just returned from Disney World; it was Fiammenghi’s first time, having move to the U.S. from Italy in 2006. He was fascinated by the park, but especially loved Epcot with its representation of countries from around the world. He loved “visiting Italy,” enjoying the food, culture and chatting with the Italians speaking his home language.

Below: Philadelphia fashion writer Elizabeth Wellington, and Dena Robbins, DHR & Associates. I remember years ago I broke the story of Demi Moore buying a Lagos key for Ashton Kutcher, in their happier days. I have a Lagos key too. In the spring, my choices will be broader, as Lagos is launching a men’s collection.

Below: Patrick Mullen, Conestoga Bank, Laura Baciu, Boyds, and Bill Donahue. Last week, I attended a PAWS event at Bankwerx by Conestoga Bank, and am completely fascinated by their new service where you can deposit a check into your account by taking a photo of it. Tonight, Boyds is having a shoe extravaganza. They’ll be celebrating the grand opening of the new women’s shoe and handbag salon and the new men’s shoe store at the store. That starts at 6 p.m.
