Glee’s Cory Monteith to Shoot in Philly Next Month

Plus: Spike Lee promotes Red Hook Summer.

Spike Lee stopped by Ms. Tootsie’s in Philly last week to promote his forthcoming film, Red Hook Summer, which opens nationally tomorrow (August 24th). After debuting Red Hook Summer at Sundance to mixed reviews, Lee reworked the film, which is a controversial look at faith and the church in the projects of Brooklyn. I asked him about the rumor that he was going to make a movie with Denzel Washington here in Philly, and he said, “I’d love to work with Denzel again, but there’s no movie in the works.” (Three different sources of mine, however, insist that it’s gonna happen.) A movie shoot that will happen in Philly in September is Bleiberg Entertainment’s action drama McCanick, starring David Morse, Brandon Routh and Glee star Cory Monteith. Might we see Lea Michele in our neck of the woods in a few weeks? The duo just made their first red carpet appearance as a couple Sunday night at the Do Something Awards in L.A.
