HughE Dillon One-Shot: Eagle Jaiquawn Jarrett

The football player and other Philly sports notables use down time to spread some joy at Magee

Philadelphia Eagles safety Jaiquawn Jarrett—fresh from the team’s victory over the rival Dallas Cowboys—visited with patients at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia Tuesday. The visit was part of the “Eagles Community Tuesday” initiative during which players use their day off from practice to make a positive impact in the community. Jarrett spent time with patients in Magee’s three rehabilitation gyms, where he talked football with patients undergoing therapy after spinal cord injuries, stroke, brain injuries, amputations and orthopedic issues. Below: Jarrett stopped to chat with 18-year-old Megan Misiak, of Greencastle. She told me she had been in a car accident August 31st and thrown from the vehicle after a tire had blown and the car flipped. After her initial hospitalization she had a choice of going to rehabilitation in Pittsburgh or Philly. She chose Philly cause she’s an Eagles fan. Since her stay she’s also met former Penn State football player (and former Magee patient) Adam Taliaferro, who hosted a holiday party at Magee for patients December 18th, and Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel, when he visited Magee on December 15th.
