The Good King Tavern is back with a second Jardins de Provence wine dinner on Wednesday, May 20th. And the news gets better as the price is dropping from $95 to $65. Granted, the dinner will be a bit less grandiose; four wines, paired by a plate (amuse, opener, entree, dessert), but good food and drink on a Wednesday night is always appreciated.
The Jardins de Provence showcases natural French wines paired with chef Paul Lyons’ cooking. This month Sean Faeth of Artisan’s Cellar and Chloe Grigri of the Good King will be pouring and talking wines.
The dinner will be held at 7:30 pm along the back banquette at a single long table. Reserve your space now.

Every Wednesday night, Bar Volver offers special deals on cocktails, wine and snacks (PDF). And tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14th, Jose Garces’s Kimmel Center bar has a little something special planned.
Volver’s chef de cuisine, Natalie Maronski who was Garces’s chef at Chifa (the Iron Chef’s Peruvian/Chinese mashup), is bringing back some of Chifa’s favorite buns, duck tacos, wings and other dishes for one night.
Happy hour at Volver runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and you’ll want to get there early to get a taste of Chifa.
I really think that headline says it all. First, Percy Street is trying to beat back the winter blues (and bulk us all up with plenty of pork fat) with an all-you-can-eat rib deal on Wednesdays, beginning January 7. For $27, you get all the ribs you can eat, plus french fries, coleslaw and cornbread. Deal starts at 5pm and runs ’til close so, you know, plan on spending some time.
Second, Percy Street is going to be celebrating Meat Week from January 18 through the 30th (Center City Restaurant Week counter-programming). What is Meat Week you ask? It’s the week where you can share a family-style spread of BBQ chicken, pulled pork, smoked beef brisket, cornbread, macaroni & cheese and sides for just $20 per person–basically the same deal they offer on a normal night but, you know, Meat Week. And still a better deal than Restaurant Week.
Percy Street is recommending you make reservations for the festivities. We’re seconding that wisdom. The meat sweats you’re going to have to deal with on your own.

Every Wednesday, Tommy Up’s The Yachtsman brings in free Pizza Brain pizza after 9 p.m. Combine that with a $3 Kona Lager and you’re looking at a very thrifty Wednesday evening.
Pizza is free while supplies last.

- Black Bean Hummus & Taro Chips
- Gambas con Mojo with Rice & Beans

Bad News: Lobster Mania at Chick’s Social Kitchen and Bar is coming to an end in two weeks.
Good News: For the final two Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May, Chick’s will be serving up a one-pound lobster with clams, mussels, and potatoes for only $18.
We hazard to guess there won’t be a better lobster deal this season, so get it while it lasts.
