This week saw two big food competitions go down in Philadelphia. On Saturday, Philadelphia’s food truck scene was saluted with the Vendy Awards. The “Oscars of food trucks” named Foolish Waffles the best food truck; SeoulFull Philly as the rookie of the year; and Underground Donuts for Best Dessert.
Then on Sunday, the Burger Brawl took over the parking lot adjacent to Xfinity Live as 54 restaurants competed for the title of best burger. There were three awards on the line, the Judges Choice, the People’s Choice and new this year, a cocktail competition.

Tomorrow, Saturday, June 13th is the 5th annual Philadelphia Vendy Awards. The event is happening on the JFK Boulevard in front of 30th Street Station. There will be 15 food trucks competing for awards including the Vendy Cup, Rookie of the Year and Best Dessert.

The Vendy Awards 2015.
Known to some as the “Oscars of street food” (seriously, google it), Philadelphia’s 5th Vendy Awards are back for another year of celebration.
Cummerbund optional, but preferred.
If your idea of a good Saturday includes copious amounts of food and beer, block off June 13th and head to the JFK Bridge from 1PM to 6PM. Because that’s where the chefs will be firing up their trucks for the entire event so that you have a chance to taste everything and name your favorite.

Get ready to roll out the red carpet because the Vendy Awards are back. This Saturday, June 14th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. the top vendors in Philadelphia will meet at Penn Treaty Park in Fishtown for you to get a taste of some of their best recipes. But the hard part comes after the eating when you vote for People’s Choice, Rookie of the Year and Best Dessert. The finalists include The Cow and The Curd competing for the Vendy Cup, Heart Food Truck competing for Rookie of the Year and Milk + Sugar competing for Best Dessert. Tickets are $55 for adults and and $30 for kids (ages 8-12).
The event will be full of food, drinks, music and more drinks because at the end of the night, Fette Sau and Frankford Hall will be be having after-party drink specials. And to top it all off, the event is a fundraiser for The Food Trust, the non-profit organization in Philadelphia that strives to give all Philadelphians nutritious and affordable food. Saturday, the Vendy Awards were once again held in Philadelphia. The event brought hundreds to Penn Treaty Park where nominated food trucks competed for four awards, including savory, sweet, “Messy Yet Tasty” and the Vendy Cup.
King of Falafel, which you can find daily at 16th and JFK Boulevard won the big award. Lil’ Pop Shop repeated as the winner of the sweet category and The Cow & the Curd brought home the savory award as well as the Tide stain stick’s “Messy Yet Tasty” award.

The third annual Philadelphia Vendy Awards are being held Saturday, June 8th at Penn Treaty Park. 18 food trucks from around the city will be vying for the coveted Vendy Cup from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Ticket price includes day-of judging rights, all you can eat from each participating truck (inclusive of beer lovingly provided by Brooklyn Brewery) and a chance to say you were there.
The Vendy Awards will serve as a fundraiser for The Food Trust, the Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization that strives to make healthy food available to all.

Philly’s best food truck chefs are flocking to the third annual Philadelphia Vendy Awards at Penn Treaty Park on Saturday, June 8th. The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. and run through 6:00 p.m., when the coveted Vendy Cup will be awarded.

Mark Coates and the Smoke Truck brought home the second Philadelphia Vendy Cup championship this weekend. The barbecue serving truck won the judges favor, serving up its barbecue and mac and cheese.
Vernalicious won the People’s Choice award and ‘Lil Pop Shop won for best dessert.

The winners of the 2011 and 2012 Vendy Awards will be having a special event at Eakins Oval on the Parkway on Thursday, August 2nd between 6 and 9 p.m. 2011 winners Sweet Box, GiGi & Big R’s and Cucina Zapata will be there along with the winners of the 2012 Vendys which are being held tomorrow. The event will be pay-as-you-go and beer will be available for purchase from Sixpoint Brewery. There will be music, chalk drawing and more.
