Plenty Cafe’s original location at 1710 East Passyunk Avenue has recently been renovated, installing a 12-foot reclaimed ash wood high-top bar and adding ten additional seats.
In early February we told you that Plenty was dropping its excellent Tasso Ham Panini. The news left us bitterly disappointed and we considered descending on the sandwich spot with pitchforks raised. Luckily that won’t be necessary as the tasso ham panini is back for at least a limited time. The official reasoning is that its for Mardi Gras but with the tease that it might be extended, we’re putting this one in the win column.
Plenty, which recently expanded to 1602 Spruce Street is tweaking its menu. And to shock to myself and I’m sure many others, the tasso ham sandwich is coming off the menu.
The house cured and smoked pork shoulder is smothered in Cayenne dry rub, Creole mayo and gruyere pressed on a French roll. The sandwich definitely packs some heat and that has been cited as the reasoning for the sandwich’s removal from the menu.
