This Thursday, June 12th, Lambertville, New Jersey, is hosting Nitefare, their first food truck festival. The free, public event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will be filled with food, food, and more food. Top Lambertville restaurants will be featured along with food trucks from the Philadelphia area and a Yards Beer Garden.
The Cow and The Curd will also be serving up, for the first time, its poutine, a dish that includes hand cut fries, gravy, fresh cheddar curds and hand chopped bacon to top it all off. Other food trucks include Say Cheese, Nomad Pizza, and Sweet Box. And as you eat your way through the festival, be sure to keep your ears open for the live music going on at every corner. The event will be held on four blocks of North Union Street from Bridge to York Street.
Eakins Oval becomes “The Oval” today, “the new shape of fun.” In an effort to transform the underutilized public space into something more, the area in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art has been transformed into a new park. The 8-acre space will offer daily programing as well as a sandy beach. Each day the Oval will also be visited by food trucks. Today, Reuben on Rye, Sum Pig, Cosmic Catering and Sweet Box will all be on the scene today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Check out the Oval’s calendar for a complete list of events.

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone and December is peeking around the corner, it is acceptable to start getting into the holiday spirit. Crank up the Michael Buble Christmas album, break out the strands of lights and pull out your favorite latke recipes. Along with these classic preparations, also head to the Piazza at Schmidts for the Holiday Food Truck Round Up.
This Saturday, December 1st, food trucks are gathering at the Piazza to kick of the holiday season, but not just the upcoming holidays. Rather, they are celebrating all the holidays, from Independence Day to Cinco de Mayo. Each truck will have their own holiday theme with dishes to match. The day will also mark the beginning of Philly Mobile Food Association’s month long partnership with Philabundance. The trucks will be collecting canned goods, so come ready to give and ready to eat.
It will be the perfect end to a day of shopping at the Northern Liberties Shopping Spree.

The Second Annual Vendy Awards have been scheduled for Saturday, July 28th. At The Lot at 39th and Market, food writer Joy Manning and chef Marcie Turney will be judging 8-10 street food vendors nominated by the great people of Philadelphia in a sidewalk cook off. The general public can buy tickets to the event to enjoy food and beer all while supporting The Food Trust through fundraising.
The Vendy Awards started out in NYC in 2005 and they were so successful that cities like Philadelphia and Los Angeles have picked up their own. Last year the winner of the Philly Vendy Cup was Gigi and Big R and the People’s Choice went to Cucinca Zapata while SweetBox took home the Dessert prize. Nominate your favorite food truck or sidewalk cart today to show your appreciation for your daily lunch spot. And buy your tickets at the Vendy website fast, the event is sure to sell out — and even if there were any left at the door, they cost more.
