Well, this is sweet. If you voted today (you did, didn’t you?), you can head to any of SWEAT Fitness’ eight locations today for a free sweat session. Go ahead and celebrate this small victory with a squeal.
Summer may be coming to a close soon (insert all the crying emojis here), but that doesn’t mean all the free summer fitness series have to come to an end — at least not SWEAT Fitness’ free SWEAT + SIP fitness series. We just got word that the series, which was slated to end in August, will now be running every Sunday (except for Labor Day weekend) through September 25th. Yippee!
SWEAT Fitness is launching a new group training program today, SWEATX, out of their Queen Village location and the easiest way to explain the program is that it’s kind of like CrossFit — a typical workout might include back squats, kettlebell swings, box jumps, tire-pushing (really), and so on — but not. While certain elements of the workouts might call to mind a CrossFit box, key aspects of the SWEATX program differ from CrossFit: For one, all SWEATX classes are capped at 10 participants, with between two and three trainers on deck to supervise. So the idea is small, dynamic group training classes with lots of one-on-one attention. Next, the trainers leading SWEATX are actively trying to avoid the competitive culture common in CrossFit boxes — something that can be a huge motivator for some, but can provoke injury or be a complete deterrent for others. To add to our very long list of Valentine’s Day yoga classes in Philly, we’ve got this: On Saturday, February 14th, SWEAT Fitness will be hosting free Valentine’s Day yoga at their Fitler Square, Manayunk, Old City and South Philly locations. And if the word “free” wasn’t enough incentive for you to jot it down on your calendar, get this: There will be strawberries and champagne, too!
Three Philly Sweat Fitness locations are hosting boozy yoga classes on Friday that are free and open to the public. The classes are at 5:30 p.m. at the following locations: Sweat Queen Village (700 Passyunk Avenue), Sweat South Philly (1509 E. Passyunk Avenue) and Sweat Manayunk (4151 Main Street).
