Police say a brazen robber — clad in what appears to be a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap and a wig — walked into the Subway in Northern Liberties, pointed a gun at a cashier and got away with money from the store.
The robbery happened on Monday at around 9:15 p.m. Per police reports and surveillance footage, the man walked in and immediately pointed a gun at the 25-year-old cashier behind the counter. She emptied the register into a plastic bag. Read more »
At 10 a.m. this morning, cops say, the man — in what appears to be some sort of monster mask — pointed a gun at a teller at the TD Bank on York Road in Hatboro. He fled in a blue older-model Buick (with the stolen license plate GKM 2042) after escaping with an unidentified amount of money.
Samiyyah Poteat, 21, was taken into custody Friday for her alleged involvement in the two gunpoint robberies. She lives near 46th and Walnut in West Philadelphia. The first alleged robbery took place on June 11th outside The Gun Range, near Percy and Spring Garden streets in the East Poplar/Eraserhood/Loft District/Spaghetti Warehouse neighborhood. Police say Poteat’s accomplice took a backpack containing two .22 caliber handguns while Poteat took items from the victim’s pockets.
NBC 10 reports two men with assault rifles held up a Garda armored car this morning, getting away with $105,000 in cash.
Police say the two men, wearing black bandanas over their faces, robbed an armored car at the TD Bank at Frankford and Wells in Tacony. The men then hopped into a white van before ditching that car to jump into a white Cadillac. They may have accomplices in that last car.
