Qatar Airways’ A350 XWB will make its Philly debut on Jan. 1, 2016.
The Airbus A350 XWB is an impressive piece of machinery. It’s got the lowest twin engine noise level of any aircraft, wide seats and aisles, and 80-inch fully flat horizontal beds. Being able to lay down during a 13-hour flight? Yes please.
Now, Qatar Airways has announced that the aircraft will make its U.S. debut at the Philadelphia International Airport on January 1, 2016. Read more »
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency, Mr. Akbar Al Baker, hosted a glamorous gala last night at the Ritz-Carlton to celebrate the launch of new, non-stop service from Philadelphia International Airport to Doha, connecting the Philadelphia region to Qatar Airways’ network of more than 130 destinations worldwide.
The evening began with a cocktail hour in 10 Arts, where white-gloved servers passed around delicious hors d’oeuvre and cocktails to the guests before a cirque du soleil performance. Artists entertained the crowd then led the nearly 300 guests to the ballroom below for dinner, music and the program, which ended with a surprise performance by Philly’s own Boyz II Men.

Qatar Airways, the state-owned airline of the small, rich Middle Eastern country, has started its flights to and from Philadelphia. The Inquirer‘s Linda Lloyd writes the airline will have a nonstop direct flights from Philadelphia to Doha starting tomorrow.
