David Fierabend of Groundswell Design Group has become one of our favorite people. He and his company were behind the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Pop-Up Garden from last summer that we just can’t stop praising. His company is also responsible for the landscape architecture at Morgan’s Pier, Talula’s Garden and the Waterfront Winterfest.
An impressive list but that’s nothing compared to the projects they have planned.

By the looks of her Facebook page, Andrea Kyan and her Pure Sweets & Co. crew have been seriously hard at work these past few months, turning the former Adresse boutique space at 1706 Locust Street into a bakery, cafe and juice bar. I checked with Kyan this morning to see how progress is coming along, since the last time we spoke in the fall, she thought they’d be open by March or April. Looks like things are right on schedule, because Kyan says they’re moving in next week, with a target grand opening date set for March 28th.

Pure Sweets gluten-free treats have been available for delivery and at some coffee shops around town. Their pistachio espresso cookie was just named a Best of Be Well Philly winner. Now, owner Andrea Kyan has signed a lease at 1706 Locust Street to open a cafe and bakery storefront. In addition to sweets and Kyan’s Pure Tonics line of juices, she is expecting to offer a lot more including dishes with a Southeast Asian vibe.
