Philly Beer Week 2017 is almost here, and just scrolling through the seemingly endless list of beer-soaked tastings, specials, meet and greets, happy hours, tap takeovers, dinners, lunches, and brunches is enough to make your head spin like you just chugged a six-pack of Golden Monkey. Not to worry — we’ve combed through the calendar for the hottest food-focused PBW events, from pig roasts and barbecues to beer high teas and prix fixe menus that will have you eating and drinking in style all Beer Week long.
It’s not even May, but we’re already excited for Philly Beer Week’s 10th anniversary celebration, running from June 1 through June 11.
The country’s best and biggest beer week — which has spawned 77 imitators across the country since it first took place a decade ago — will kick off with the ceremonial Opening Tap party at The Fillmore on June 1st.
The crew behind Philadelphia Beer Week (17 restaurant industry pros and local beer experts) have just announced the debut of Philly Loves Beer, a “year-round entity devoted to raising Philadelphia’s global profile as a destination city for beer tourism.”
So what does this mean? Quite a bit. actually. According to the PBW board, Philly Loves Beer is the country’s first (and only) non-profit organization dedicated to the love and greater glorification of beer that’s not linked to a brewing guild or business association. It exists to “serve as the foremost authority on beer and beer culture in Philadelphia and the surrounding area,” and will do so through education, advocacy and networking 365 days a year–not just during the annual Philly Beer Week bachanal.
Oh, and speaking of Beer Week…
