Calling all Philly bikers: If you’ve always dreamt of becoming the next Lance Armstrong (You know, minus the whole steroid incident), here’s your chance to ride like a pro. Registration is officially open for the Velothon bike ride, coming to Philadelphia on June 1st.
Right now, with snow on the ground and more wet, wintery weather predicted for this weekend, running the trails of Tyler Arboretum is probably the last thing on your mind. But save the date: The always-sells-out Tyler 10K Trail Run is coming up on April 5th. And I’m no Cecily Tynan, but I can pretty much guarantee that the weather won’t be nearly as gross as it is now.
If you heart Food in Jars (either the blog or the cookbook, or both), you’ll want to make a point to hit up the Whole Foods Market in Plymouth Meeting next Monday to get an in-person canning/cooking lesson with Marisa McClellan, the brains behind the local canning site. She’ll be teaching attendees how to make and preserve honey-sweetened cranberry sauce, which would make the perfect side dish at Thanksgiving and the perfect hostess gift during the holidays. Win win!
Spending a week night out on the town can be difficult to justify. I mean, what’s more important than watching Scandal and eating take-out Indian food, anyway? Well, l’ve got the perfect compromise for you! The Metta Movement party hosted by Lululemon Athletica Walnut Street and the Philadelphia non-profit GreenTreks gives you a short and sweet night out without sacrificing a cozy night in.
Halloween is officially one week away (crazy, right?), but you can get your celebrating started early at Lululemon Wayne this weekend. The shop is kicking off its first monthly Run With Us event, themed fun runs through town led by Lulu staffers. The first one will be a three-mile costumed Halloween run, so come dressed in your scariest (or craziest) duds. The run starts and ends at the store, and runners will get treats afterwards for coming out.
RSVP on Facebook here.
FREE, October 26 at 9:30 a.m., Lululemon Athletica, 220 West Lancaster Avenue, Wayne.
