Visitors to Philadelphia’s Christmas Village kept telling Liza Hussain that she had to open a storefront for her crepes. So she took their advice and opened Global Crepes and Local Shakes at 1309 S 9th Street, just a quarter-block from Pat’s and Geno’s.
In addition to sweet and savory crepes, the store offers Philly Fair Trade Coffee for coffee and espresso. And as the name implies there are also shakes. And perhaps most interesting, a selection of Sharbat, a Persian a sweet drink made with rose petals among other things.
Daily specials, like today’s crepe with manchego, fresh pear and dark Belgian chocolate, are also offered. In the spring the sharbats portion of the menu will be extended and ice cream will also be served.
