Donuts and Ice Cream Are Coming to Wayne

wayne-donut-ice-creamMain Liners are just a couple weeks away from enjoying donuts and ice cream at Wayne Bar. In what was the home of the Suburban and Wayne Times. As the name suggests, the store will offer donuts, as well as coffee and for later in the day, ice cream.

The Wayne Donut Bar fills a gaping cavity of sweets in the Main Line town. In recent years the town has lost Dairy Queen, Sweet Daddy’s, Cold Stone and Gumdrops and Sprinkles.

Uber Adds Ice Cream Option for National Ice Cream Day


Uber, the smart-phone-powered way to snag a town car has been saving us from hot Philadelphia cabs for over a year now. And tomorrow, Friday July 19th, they’ll be saving us from the heat. In honor of National Ice  Cream Day, you’ll be able to use your Uber app to summon ice cream trucks on demand to request ice cream delivery.

$25 gets you an ice cream bundle from a Mister Softee truck delivered right to you. The bundle includes five ice cream products plus an Uber tank top.

Uber is also offering $20 off people’s first ride if they enter the code ICECREAM. Head to Uber to sign up.

Ice cream trucks will be available on the road from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A marriage of awesome outdoor grilling and delicious ice cream is taking place over at Reading Terminal Market this Saturday, July 13th. You’re invited to celebrate both National Hot Dog Month and National Ice Cream Month with a bevy of summer staples–$1 hot dogs, turkey legs, kabobs, shrimp skewers, grilled pizza, hamburgers, Amish sausages, Bavarian pork sandwiches, as well as a variety of ice cream treats. Live music, games, and children’s arts and crafts will round out the event. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Morimoto Launches Line of Unconventional Ice Cream Flavors

Look out Little Baby’s Ice Cream. Morimoto and his pastry chef Thomas McCarthy have developed a line of unconventional ice cream and sorbet flavors. And they’re going to be for sale at Morimoto in Philadelphia. Flavors will include such unusual flavors such as Popcorn, Miso Honey and Chicken ‘n Waffle.

The ice cream can be purchased to-go at Morimoto’s host stand as well as from servers at the end of a meal. The ice cream launch this Friday and will cost $10 per container.

Philly Flavors Opening on 19th Street in Center City


Fairmount’s popular Philly Flavors will soon be opening a location at 44 S 19th Street. The ice cream, Italian ice and frozen yogurt spot sports a similar blue-and-white pinstripe look to its Fairmount neighbor and received its awning this weekend.

The addition of the ice cream parlor should soften the loss of Scoop de Ville on Chestnut Street.
