I am currently cursing myself for not toting my yoga bag with me to work today: The lovely news just came in that Mind, Body, and Spirits — the $20 yoga-and-drinks event that goes down at Hotel Palomar and Hotel Monaco every Monday evening — will be free at Rittenhouse’s Hotel Palomar every remaining Monday this January. So you can count on free yoga AND free wine (or a free featured cocktail, if that’s more your jam) every Monday throughout the month of January. Yes, please! Read more »
This Christmas, even your furry babies can visit with Saint Nick. The annual Santa Paws event returns to Palomar Hotel on December 12th, for pets to meet Santa Claus and bring him their holiday wish lists. Your little one will get his or her picture taken and receive a bag of treats from local pet boutique Doggie Style. Next-door eatery Square 1682 will also provide holiday refreshments, like cookies and hot cocoa for both humans and their companions.
Donations will be accepted for Saved Me, an adoption center that rescues dogs and cats from shelter euthanasia to find them loving homes. Representatives and some of the animals from the center in need of holiday homes will also be at the event if you’re looking for a new addition to the family.
For that perfect final touch to your holiday card this year, you can visit the hotel living room on December 12th from 1 to 4 pm for a photo.
Keep up to date with our local arts and events coverage. Here’s how:
But in all seriousness, the fundraising evening, which transforms the Hotel Palomar into a high-rolling very gay casino for one night, is one of the best events in the city. This party for a purpose benefits the great work that ActionAIDS does throughout the Philadelphia region: the organization is “committed to creating an AIDS-free generation through a combination of proven strategies,” including “case management, HIV testing, prevention education, supportive housing, HIV treatment as prevention and volunteer services.”
On Thursday night Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar Philadelphia celebrated its fifth anniversary with a party filling two ballrooms at Philadelphia’s first LEED-certified hotel.
There was delicious food prepared by Square 1682’s executive chef Caitlin Mateo, specialty cocktails created by celebrated bartender Chauncey Scates, and an interactive experience behind closed doors in some of the hotel rooms. Each of the rooms housed a different one-of-a-kind experimental experience — whether it was cool EDM music playing in a darkened room, a photo booth, or a dance recital created by Anonymous Bodies, King Britt and Klip Collective.
DJ Rob’s Brother played cool tunes all evening as guests wandered between the dance floor on the 25th floor and the buffet on the 24th, where guests could also get their portraits sketched by local artist Denise Fike. It was a great celebration for the boutique hotel, and great to see so many of the people who have passed through the doors over the past five years.
Attention high rollers: Forget Atlantic City or Las Vegas. For one night only, ActionAIDS, Pennsylvania’s largest AIDS service organization, is transforming Philadelphia’s Hotel Palomar into a glitzy casino — all for a good cause.
Philanthropic “gamblers” are invited to attend Glamsino Royale, an evening of food, games, and music, on Feb 27. The 24th and 25th floors of Hotel Palomar will be transformed into a casino paradise, where guests can try their hands at Black Jack, Craps, Roulette, or Texas Hold ‘Em. If gambling isn’t your jam, no worries: There will be plenty of booze from the likes of Yards Brewing Company, J. Lohr Vineyards, and Philadelphia Distilling, along with light bites from the Palomar’s Square 1682. There will also be plenty of raffles and prizes, including Kimpton Hotel vacations, up for grabs.
If your block is one of the few that didn’t host a massive street party this summer (with a hat tip to the fine folks of Fishtown who have mastered the art of blocking off streets with inflatables), we’ve found an acceptable alternative. To celebrate the first anniversary of the Rittenhouse restaurant Square 1682 — located within the swank Hotel Palomar — Sansom Street will be blocked off between 16th and 17th streets from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for music, fun, and, of course, food.
Two weeks from today Ansill Food + Wine is throwing their “European BBQ.” We’re not exactly sure what that means but with $30 getting you two plates of roasted pig, assorted grilled meats, marinated vegetables, various salads, antipasti and a glass of house wine or draft beer we’re sure we’ll like it.
The fun starts Friday, June 20th at 6pm.
