On Sunday, January 29th, the hotel is hosting their third annual Resolution Rx event to keep you on track, with tons of $5 fitness classes from studios around the city, mini massages and acupuncture (!!) and healthy grub.

Red Owl Tavern Offering Lobster Clambakes Every Monday

Clambake at Red Owl TavernLooking for a way to make Mondays a little more fun and a little less (to put it nicely) horrible? Red Owl Tavern might have to solution.

Every Monday this summer, the restaurant at the Hotel Monaco will be dishing out traditional clambakes with a whole lobster, clams, mussels, and shrimp. The exciting news?  It is only $25.  If you miss Monday, Red Owl Tavern will also offer the special Tuesday through Friday, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

And if that isn’t quite enough for you, they will also be offering a dozen oysters and a bottle of wine for $33 all summer long.

Drinking For A Good Cause: Champagne 101 Social at Hotel Monaco


Tonight, Hotel Monaco is hosting a Champagne 101 Social at the Stratus Rooftop Lounge to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region.

The VIP Champagne Seminar will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and includes a meet and greet with Kimpton Hotel’s master sommelier, Emily Wines. During the seminar will be an intimate champagne and small plate pairing with food prepared by Stratus’ executive chef, Jorge Chicas.

The Drink + Mingle Champagne Reception will follow the seminar from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will include two complimentary glasses of champagne and access to a raw bar station, sushi station, and a Mediterranean cheese station.

Boy, do I have some good news for you. Remember back in January, Hotel Palomar decided to make their weekly Mind, Body, and Spirits class — a weekly yoga-and-drinks event that happens at both Hotel Palomar and Hotel Monaco every Monday evening — free for the month of January? Well, Old City’s Hotel Monaco has followed suit. Their weekly Mind, Body and Spirits yoga class, which comes complete with a free beer or glass of wine, used to run folks $20, but starting Monday, March 7th, the classes will be free — forever. Best Monday Night Ever: Do Yoga With a DJ and Drink Art in the Age Cocktails

Confession: Every Monday night, I watch Sunday’s episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and The Real Housewives of Atlanta. In other words, I have the most embarrassing night ever. Every Monday night. But this coming Monday, I — and you, too! — will have a less embarrassing but equally enjoyable night thanks to Mariel Freeman of Three Queens Yoga.

On Monday, December 21st, Mariel is hosting her annual Mariel’s Favorite Things event at Hotel Monaco. There will be yoga, there will be a DJ and there will be Art in the Age drinks. And a little birdie tells me there will be some Lululemon swag going around, too! And the whole night — sweat session, drinks and all — will only run you $30. But that’s not the best part, this is: All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Broad Street Ministry, a local organization that helps to feed Philly’s homeless population. Read more »

Hotel Monaco Celebrates Halloween in Heaven and Hell

Free Bike Tune-Ups at Hotel Monaco Tomorrow



If you’re cruising through the city tomorrow, be sure to give your bike a little TLC and stop by Hotel Monaco for their second annual Cycle Check-up event. The Kimpton Hotel is partnering with Keswick Cycle for a pop-up bike shop, where mechanics will perform on-the-spot wheel and tire inspections, express tune-ups, and adjustments on front and rear derailleurs and brakes—all for free. There will even be snacks, courtesy of Red Owl Tavern, and the chance to enter a raffle for a free Fuji bike. Holler!

The pop-up shop will be located in front of Hotel Monaco (433 Chestnut Street), from 7 to 9 a.m., noon to 2 p.m., and 5 to 7 p.m. First come, first served.
