First off, I apologize. This video is more than a little irritating. It shows Noel “Detail” Fisher, a music producer who’s created big hits for folks like Beyoncé (“Drunk in Love”) and Lil Wayne (“How to Love”), coming out of a club and being accosted by TMZ reporters. He’s — allegedly! — intoxicated and does some embarrassing song and dance stuff for the cameras, but there’s once instance in the clip that may be of interest to some of us in Philly.
Theater-goers scurried to movie multiplexes around the country this weekend to catch the debut of Straight Outta Compton, Ice Cube’s biopic about the lives of N.W.A. The film came in at No. 1 at the weekend box office, pulling in an impressive $56.1 million in ticket sales.
A sizable chunk of that came from Philly rapper Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj, who rented out an entire theater so they could watch the film privately with some of their crew. “When u & bae rent out the entire theatre to watch #StraightOutttaCompton with the team,” she shared in an Instagram post. The photo shows her peeking her head in from the side, while Meek, with tons of bling around his neck, gets ready to dig into what looks like a box of movie nachos.
Celebrity divorces have been a hot topic lately, and the latest couple to make one of the most unfortunate of headlines is Pottstown native Daryl Hall (of Hall and Oates fame) and his wife Amanda Aspinall.
TMZ reports that documents just surfaced showing that Aspinall filed to end their six-year marriage back in May. The couple didn’t have children, though they were caring for two sons from Aspinall’s previous relationship.
This is Daryl Hall’s second divorce. The 68-year-old Hall of Famer was married to Bryna Lublin from 1969 to 1972.
The Internet is abuzz this morning with racy photos of Jenkintown native Bradley Cooper enjoying an amorous moment on the beach with his 29-year-old supermodel girlfriend, Irina Shayk.
The pair were caught sunning and smooching in the sand on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, him sporting a pair of bright orange trunks and her in a mismatched bikini. The Daily Mail has all the photos, and they share them interspersed with scenes from From Here to Eternity, the 1953 film classic where Montgomery Clift and Deborah Kerr share the same sort of lip-lock on a beach in Hawaii. For now, though, here are some photos in tweet form:
Lafayette Hill-based actor Terrence Howard and his ex-wife Michelle Ghent are in the midst of a nasty court battle. The pair appeared before a judge this morning, where, as reported by TMZ, a witness was called to the stand to testify that Ghent used a threesome sex tape involving the actor to extort him out of money.
The person testifying for Howard was his sister-in-law Yvonne Howard, who told the court Ghent “had [Terrence] by the balls,” claiming to be in possession of a tape that featured him having sex with a woman while another woman videotaped.
Drake doesn’t seem to want to let the beef between him and Philly-born rapper Meek Mill die — and he certainly seems to be enjoying his ride at the top. The Internet (and the Eagles!) put him in the winning corner after a series of diss tracks were released by both rappers last week. Drake’s were decidedly awesome; while Meek’s was, well … meek.
Last night, at his OVO Festival in Toronto, Drake set the web ablaze once again by sporting a “Free Meek Mill” T-shirt to rehearse for his set. The Canadian rapper wore the tee once before — to show love for Meek Mill, who was serving jail time in Philly. Obviously, this time it carries a much different connotation.
UPDATE [8/3/2015, 9:42 pm]: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith take to their social media pages to say they are not getting a divorce. Read their responses here.
UPDATE [8/3/2015, 1:53 pm]: Don’t pull out your Kleenex just yet. GossipCop.com has a conflicting report, saying the superstar couple are not heading to divorce court. The site claims to have “checked in with an impeccable Smith family source, who tells us [Radar] is once again off-base and that talk of an end-of-the-summer divorce announcement is 100 percent ‘not true.’”
ORIGINAL: After 17 years of what seemed like blissful, great-sex-filled marriage, Philly’s Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith are reportedly calling it quits.
According to Radar, who broke the news, the couple have been working carefully on “a confidential settlement to protect their $240 million fortune, and prepare their kids for the fallout.”
TMZ caught up with Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks outside an airport to ask him his take on the Meek Mill / Drake feud that’s set the Internet on fire over the past week.
He basically said Drake may not be welcome next time he comes to town, because Meek Mill, well, “he definitely runs Philly,” Kendricks said. Then he implied—likely in a playful way—that things could get ugly if the “Started From the Bottom” rapper paid a visit to the 215. “I wonder how it’s gonna be if Drake tries to come and perform there … ”
Check out the full interview above.
The feud between Drake and Meek Mill began last week when Meek, who was born and raised in Philly, tweeted that Drake didn’t write his own raps. The latter followed up by releasing two tracks that dissed Meek—and even took a jab at the Phillies.
As you’ll see in the video, Kendricks muses that the whole ordeal could be orchestrated to give the two rappers more publicity. But hey, at least it’s fun to watch.
Teresa Giudice may still have several months of behind-bars time on her hands, but at least she has the comfort of knowing there will be a million-dollar paycheck waiting for her when she gets out. RadarOnline reports that the fallen housewife signed a $1 million deal for her post-prison return to Real Housewives of New Jersey. As you’ve come to expect from the show, the news is surrounded by all kinds of drama.
