Freaky Details Emerge About Next Season of American Horror Story

Get ready to get freaky, American Horror Story (AHS) fans. After what seemed like a lifetime of anticipation, AHS creator Ryan Murphy finally gave us a glimpse at Season 4, when he took to Twitter to reveal that the next iteration of the anthology series will be subtitled “Freak Show.” While very little is known about the upcoming season, EW.com just revealed a few other morsels that are quite delicious.

According to the site, American Horror Story: Freak Show will be set in Jupiter, Fla., in 1950 and have recurring AHS diva Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who will be managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S. If that isn’t juicy enough, her flock of freaks is set to include recurring AHS players Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters. It is also rumored that Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return for another AHS romp. Below we take a stab at what characters this lineup of stars could play.

While anticipation will be high in the months leading up to the new season, we can’t forget that this is rumored to be the last for Lange. Murphy has always pulled out all the shocking stops when it comes to AHS, so I’m sure he will give Lange the diva swan song she deserves in her final horror story. Stay tuned!

MORNING TEA: Patti LaBelle Brought the White House Down

patti labelle white house

As we reported earlier this week, Philly soul queens Patti LaBelle and Jill Scott performed at the White House last night for Michelle Obama’s “Women of Soul,” an arts workshop for high school and college students. The reviews are in, and it sounds like Miss Patti brought the house down. From AP: ”First up in the East Room lineup was LaBelle, with a thundering delivery of ‘Over the Rainbow’ that had the audience on its feet. … [She] had plenty of stories and advice to share with the students, then got them whooping, hooting and swaying with a [song] in the intimate venue of the State Dining Room.”

Scott joined Melissa Etheridge, Janelle Monae, and Tessanne Chin on a “rollicking” version of Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.” The concert streamed live on the White House website, and you can catch it on April 7th when it airs on PBS.

Kevin Hart, Tina Fey Nominated for
MTV Movie Awards

mtv movie awardsPhilly will be well represented at this year’s MTV Movie Awards: Bradley Cooper is in the running for Best Male Performance for American HustleTina Fey (alongside Amy Poehler) is up for Best Cameo Performance in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, and Kevin Hart nabbed two nominations — Best Comedic Performance for Ride Along, and he and Ice Cube are nominated together for Best Comedic Duo in the same film. My guess is that Hart is a shoe in, especially for Best Comedic Performance, since he just took home a similar prize at the way-more-prestigious NAACP Spirit Awards.

The MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, airs Sunday, April 13, at 9 p.m. on MTV.

MORNING TEA: Bradley Cooper Technically Owns Ellen’s Oscar Selfie

ellen-oscar-selfie-bradley-cooper

TMZ reports that Bradley Cooper — not Ellen — actually owns the most famous selfie in the world:

Here’s the way it works … the person who owns the now-famous photo is the person who actually took it … NOT the person who owns the camera or organized the shoot. … So unless Bradley signed his rights away to the Academy, he’s the copyright owner. Any use of the pic without his permission is a violation of the copyright.
