Tomorrow it Friday the Thirteenth and as Philadelphia beer lovers know, that means it is Friday the Firkinteenth at the Grey Lodge. This will be the 27th Friday the Firkinteenth at Northeast Philadelphia’s best beer bar and its shaping up to be a big one. Twenty-seven firkins (small kegs) will be tapped throughout the day. The fun kicks off at noon with seven firkins being offered at a time till they run out.

It’s Friday the 13th and that means it is a Friday the Firkinteenth at the Grey Lodge in Northeast Philadelphia. There won’t be another until September of 2013 so miss today’s event and regret it for fourteen months.
As always there will be a plethora of firkins available throughout the day. The first set of seven firkins will be tapped at 10 a.m. and the Grey Lodge has 21 firkins in total. That means the event should last through to 10 p.m. unless people are particularly parched or prone to vacation today.

Friday the Firkinteenth [Grey Lodge]
Friday the 13th is a special day at the Grey Lodge. Every time the calendar hits the worst nightmare for a Triskaidekaphobiac, the Northeast Philadelphia bar presents a day of firkins. This Friday marks the 24th Firkenteenth and should see around 25 firkins tapped. Seven firkins will be pouring at a time and it is expected they’ll run around 10 p.m.
As always the list of beers is impressive. There will be several English casks in the lineup as well as the Grey Lodge’s first cask cider. Also look for the Philadelphia debut of Fifty Fifty Rockslide IPA and Flying Fish’s newest beer, Scarlet Fever.

For the 23rd Friday the 13th in a row the Grey Lodge is holding its firkin festival, Friday the Firkinteenth. Firkins of course are 40.9 L kegs of beer and the standard size for cask-conditioned beers. Starting at noon the Grey Lodge will have seven firsks pouring at a time till all the firkins are kicked (usually around 9 p.m.). 26 firkins are lined up and ready to pour.
