Big news, guys: The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts has moved into a HUGE new three-acre circus campus in a beautiful former West Mount Airy church. And the grand opening is this weekend, which means — drumroll, please — free classes! So, if you’ve always wanted to give circus-y activities a try (intro to aerials, anyone?), your time to shine is now.
Good news, guys: We’ve got one more class to add to the very, very, very long list of free fitness classes around Philly this summer. Starting tomorrow, SWEAT Fitness will be hosting a free Zumba class every Thursday evening in Manayunk. And get this: The soundtrack to the hourlong session will be spun by a live DJ. So basically, it’s a post-work dance party in the park. Um, yes, please!
It’s hard to squeeze in a Friday afternoon workout when, come 5 o’clock, happy hour is just screaming your name. But thanks to SWEAT Fitness, this weekend you don’t have to choose between working out and boozing it up: This Friday, SWEAT Fitness’ South Philly location is hosting a BYOB Vinyasa yoga class. And this class beats even the cheapest of happy hours, because it’s totally free!
Heads up, Flywheelers: Both local Flywheel outposts are now offering free classes on Wednesdays. The Friends and Family promotion is good for anyone—whether you’ve done Flywheel before or not. (It should be noted that first rides at Flywheel are always free, anyway.)
The rides, at the times listed above, are on Wednesdays. No need to sign up—they’re first come, first served.
Last month, I told you about the awesome total-body tone-up class Barefoot Boot Camp that’s offered at Yoga Garden’s Narberth studio. Looks like the Philly studio is testing the waters to see if there’s interest in bringing the high-intensity class to its South Street location. To wit: This Wednesday at 11 a.m., you can take a free Barefoot Boot Camp class to see what all the fuss is about.
It’s a 45-minute session (take an early lunch break, maybe?) that hits on cardio, strength training and flexibility for a seriously well-rounded, seriously sweaty workout. The class incorporates interval training for a terrific calorie burn.
No need to sign up ahead of time. Just show up with a mat, and be ready to work.
