Odell Beckham To Visit Eagles

Add Odell Beckham to the list of receivers coming to Philly for  a visit.

The LSU wideout told Sirius XM that he is meeting with the Eagles this upcoming week. The team has already reportedly entertained Texas A&M’s Mike Evans, Indiana’s Cody Latimer, Kelvin Benjamin out of Florida State and Marqise Lee from USC. Latimer is projected as a Day 2 pick; the rest of the group have first-round grades. Read more »

Jeremiah Compares Mosley To DeMeco

Former Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah, now an analyst for the NFL Network, took part in a conference call alongside Charles Davis Thursday. Several Philly-related angles were explored.

One topic of conversation was Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley, who some see as a fit for the Birds at 22. Interestingly enough, Jeremiah compared Mosley to a current Eagles ‘backer.

“I think he’s very good in coverage. I think he’s an excellent blitzer.  But the most impressive aspect of his game is his  instincts. I remember scouting DeMeco Ryans at Alabama, and that’s what set him apart was his instincts. I personally think he’s a better player than DeMeco was coming out, and DeMeco has had a nice career. Wake-Up Call: Kiper Talks Eagles, Draft

Mel Kiper released his first 2014 mock draft on Wednesday. He has the Eagles selecting Florida State wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin with the No. 22 overall pick.

I’d consider this more of a “best player available” pick than an outright need, but Benjamin would fill a distinctive role for the Eagles. Riley Cooper has decent size, but doesn’t create separation with speed (and is a free agent), and DeSean Jackson is exceptionally quick still, but lacks a physical presence. Benjamin combines some of both, with a huge frame for a wide receiver at near 6-5 and a lean 230-plus pounds. He possesses not just speed, but a lot of change-of-direction burst. He can simply overwhelm defenders and make plays, and would be a nice weapon for Chip Kelly.
