Between now and the draft, we’ll zero in on one prospect a day with an Eagles slant. We’ve already covered more than a dozen players, including Carson Wentz, Kenneth Dixon, Kolby Listenbee, Braxton Miller and Pharoh Cooper. If you have a player you think should be covered, shoot us an email (jpaunil@phillymag.com).

THE BACK STORY

Leonte Carroo has good hands, that much we know. It’s also clear he has great ball skills and can generate big plays. But what is in question, which is something that could play a big role in where he’s drafted, is if he’ll cause problems off of the field in the NFL.

Last September, Carroo was charged with assaulting a woman, who alleged that he picked her up and slammed her against a concrete surface. Soon thereafter, former Rutgers coach Kyle Flood indefinitely suspended Carroo. Read more »

We’ve already covered more than a dozen players, including Carson Wentz, Kenneth Dixon, Kolby Listenbee and Braxton Miller. If you have a player you think should be covered, shoot us an email (jpaunil@phillymag.com).

THE BACK STORY

Pharoh Cooper began at South Carolina hoping to play in the secondary. Steve Spurrier preferred him to be on offense, but the freshman insisted that he wanted to try defensive back first.

For the first week and a half of camp, Cooper didn’t get many practice reps. He was on the third string and all he did was catch punts every day. Then, Spurrier approached him again. Read more »

We’ve already covered more than a dozen players, including Dak Prescott, Jack Conklin, Kenneth Dixon, Jacoby Brissett and Kolby Listenbee. If you have a player you think should be covered, shoot us an email (jpaunil@phillymag.com).

THE BACK STORY

You saw it, even if you didn’t watch the game. It was the spin move heard ’round the world, and Braxton Miller was the one responsible for the viral moment.

His 53-yard touchdown run against Virginia Tech extended Ohio State’s lead from four points to 11 in the season-opener, but it also signaled his play-making ability didn’t diminish just because he changed positions. Read more »

Draft Daily: Kolby Listenbee, the TCU Speedster

Between now and the draft, we’ll zero in on one prospect a day with an Eagles slant. We’ve already covered more than a dozen players, including Dak Prescott, Jack Conklin, Kenneth Dixon and Jacoby Brissett. If you have a player you think should be covered, shoot us an email (jpaunil@phillymag.com).

THE BACK STORY

Kolby Listenbee wanted the $1 million prize. The TCU receiver was coming off a groin injury and he had only started running 10 days prior, but he put on his adizero 5-Star 40 cleats to try to cash in on the Adidas prize by breaking the 40-yard dash record.

While Listenbee finished second in the 40 among receivers at the NFL Combine, his 4.39 didn’t come close to Chris Johnson’s 4.24. Still, the speed Listenbee displayed in Indianapolis after returning from injury only reinforced his reputation, and it’s likely one reason the Eagles are reportedly hosting him on a pre-draft visit today. Draft Daily: Jacoby Brissett, An Intriguing QB

THE BACK STORY

I told Jacoby Brissett he was making a mistake. I said it (mostly) in a joking manner, and I’m sure he’d heard the faux criticism before, but the then-18-year-old just flashed a smile and walked away.

I was covering the ESPN National High School Invitational in April of 2011, a prestigious high school basketball tournament, and Brissett led Dwyer High School with 30 points to an upset win over the defending champions. Afterward, I suggested to Brissett that maybe he should play basketball in college instead of football, but the Florida commit didn’t seem terribly interested in entertaining the wisecrack. If you have a player you think should be covered, shoot us an email (jpaunil@phillymag.com).

THE BACK STORY

Even when you go back to his high school days, production has always been a hallmark of Kenneth Dixon’s career. As a senior in 2011, Dixon ran for a state single-season record of 3,153 yards and 39 touchdowns. He was named “Mr. Football” in Arkansas and lead Strong High School to a state championship.

In college, it was no different. The Louisiana Tech running back ran for a school record 4,480 yards and 72 touchdowns, finishing second in NCAA history in career touchdowns scored. He also tied the NCAA record for games played with a touchdown (38), while his 72 rushing touchdowns is tied for fourth in NCAA history with Ricky Williams. Read more »

If you have a player you think should be covered, shoot us an email (jpaunil@phillymag.com).

THE BACK STORY

Jack Conklin was desperate. The senior at Plainwell (Michigan) High School had zero FBS offers, but he knew one thing: Illinois’ then-head coach Ron Zook liked water skiing. In an effort to catch Zook’s attention, Conklin included a video of himself slaloming back and forth through the water when he sent his highlight tape to the Fighting Illini. THE BACK STORY

The UCLA freshman carried the ball just three times per game in 2013, but he averaged seven yards per carry and scored seven touchdowns, including a 66-yarder. His carries decreased in 2014, however, and in 2015, they were on pace to sink even lower before an injury shortened his season. THE BACK STORY

How much should a 40-yard-dash time affect where a receiver is drafted? The answer to that question will go a long way in determining where Mississippi wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is selected, and whether he’s an option for the Eagles. Read more »
