If you’re anything like me you’re looking forward to starting your Christmas shopping this weekend. And if you’re really like me, you’re already looking forward to the distractions that will keep you from completing your shopping.
One option that is sure to beckon like a siren, churros and chocolate at Jamonera. From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday the 21st, the Midtown Village tapas hotspot will be offering churros for $8 plus some hot drinks.
I have two things to say about this story from the Washington Post regarding exploding churros and the Chilean justice system:
1) This is why I don’t like doing recipe features. Not because I am afraid of the lawsuits (we piss off plenty of people here), but because I worry that some stupid professional-kitchen-to-home-kitchen translation mistake on my part will result in the maiming of some poor Chilean woman.
2) What in the hell were they doing in this recipe that caused “the dough boiling in oil [to] suddenly shoot out of kitchen pots”?
