A vigil will be held Monday night for South-Jersey singer Christina Grimmie, who was shot while signing photographs after performing Friday night in Orlando. She died at a hospital early Sunday morning.
Grimmie, 22, from Marlton, N.J., was a teen Youtube sensation who finished in third placed on NBC’s The Voice in 2014 as a member of Adam Levine‘s team.
The vigil will begin at 8:45 p.m. at Evesham’s Memorial Complex, located at 1004 Tuckerton Rd. in Evesham Township.
Grimmie’s alleged killer is Kevin James Loibl, 27, of St. Petersburg, Fla. He apparently traveled more than 100 miles to reach Grimmie and was armed with two handguns, two loaded magazines and a hunting knife, police told reporters.
Marlton, New Jersey’s Christina Grimmie’s large and active Twitter fan base pulled through for her last week, saving her from elimination when she landed in the bottom three, but she couldn’t quite eek, or tweet, by at this week’s finale.
In the end, Grimmie came in third place, and Team Usher’s Josh Kauffman was named the winner. But our little songbird doesn’t have anything to worry about, because, according to People, her Voice coach, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, announced early in the show that, “you will have a record deal because I would like to sign you for my label.”
This Tuesday, during the semifinal eliminations on The Voice, the bottom three contestants were huddled into a line, waiting to hear if fans had voted to keep them around. Among them was Marlton, New Jersey songbird Christina Grimmie, who’s, quite frankly, been setting that stage on fire all season long as a member of Adam Levine’s team.
