Wooder Ice has the scoop on the just opened pop-up beer garden adjacent to Heffe Tacos at Frankford and Marlborough. Heffe owner Peter McAndrews has teamed up with Brad Helder of Bottle Bar East and John Fischer of Baby Blues BBQ to get the beer garden off the ground.

According to Wooder Ice, the pop-up beer garden offers Mexican and craft beers plus cocktails.

Heffe Beer Garden is open Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight and Sundays from 2 p.m. to midnight.

We hope you’re hungry, and thirsty Photo by | Jeff Fusco

Maybe you think you know Frankford Avenue. You’ve met friends for table tennis, jenga and liters of German beer at Stephen Starr’s Frankford Hall. You’ve gotten the high score on Asteroids at Barcade. Maybe even checked out the pizza and pizza museum that is Pizza Brain. But even 12 years after William Reed took over Johnny Brenda’s and made it the Avenue’s shining welcome beacon, the best days for the corridor are still ahead of it.

More Cheese News: There’s Gonna Be A Cheese Curd Truck In Philly!

CowAndCurdBanner

I want you to take a minute and think: What would be the best possible kind of food truck that could open next in Philly?

If you said anything to do with cupcakes, you’re wrong. Bacon? Get over it. Yakitori would be nice, sure. And so would some kind of mobile meatball-and-charcuterie operation that just followed me around all day dispensing meatball hoagies and salami sandwiches. But you know what the best thing would be? A truck that offered hot, battered and deep-fried cheese curds. Just big, heaping baskets of them, still steaming-hot, maybe topped with a little gravy or something…

So wait, is there a cheese curd truck coming to Philly or not?

Tonight they’re offering a free Chimay tasting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. And the Frankford Avenue bar is following that up with live jazz from the Victor North Trio till 11 p.m.
