The Dutch is expanding west — and up — this summer: Joncarl Lachman and Lee Styer will bring The Dutch Grill, a rooftop version of their Pennsport concept, to Bok Bar on Sundays.
Slather on the sunblock, put on your most colorful summer outfit, and don a flower crown: Bok Bar is celebrating midsummer with a Nordic-inspired rooftop dinner featuring some of the city’s top farm-to-table chefs on Saturday, June 24th.
Trendy rooftop spot Bok Bar, perched eight stories high atop the former Bok Tech building at 8th and Mifflin Streets, reopens for for a third season on Thursday, May 25 — and they’ll be serving up dumplings and a slew of pop-up dinners all summer long.
Right now, Bok Bar is one of the coolest places to eat and drink in Philly. And for one night, things are going to get even better when, on Monday, September 26, chefs from 19 East Passyunk restaurants all gather for a single huge event.
No, really. Townsend Wentz is going to be roasting a whole pig. Chhaya Cafe is doing coffee service. Guys like Nick Elmi and Joncarl Lachman are going to be there whipping up snacks and hors d’oeuvres. There’s also going to be music, a fall fashion show and a raffle, but we know what really matters here, right? The food.

A year after the successful Le Bok Fin pop-up at Bok, the rooftop bar is back in a more permanent fashion as Bok Bar.
The outdoor bar on top of the former Edward W. Bok School opens tonight with a menu of Vietnamese and Filipino dishes from chef Ronan Libunao. Look for bánh mí sandwiches, sesame balls and chocolate suman, a Filipino specialty that is made of glutinous coconut rice with chocolate prepared in a banana leaf. All items on the menu are priced under $10.
