It appears that this year’s supply of Russian River Pliny the Younger has just about run dry. Philly Tap Finder’s last published tapping happened just a few hours ago. But since this is Philadelphia, our taps certainly haven’t run dry of great and in several cases, rare beer.
Bishop’s Collar, which poured the city’s last known keg of Pliny still has plenty of great IPAs pouring and is worth a trip today. The Sidecar’s monthly High Gravity Night is also tonight and includes high alcohol favorites like Bear Republic Apex, Bell’s Hopslam and Mikkeller Monk’s Elixr.

10 Arts pastry chef Monica Glass is moving on. Unlike Jennifer Carroll, we know where Glass is landing (though we hear Carroll’s been spotted snooping around Old City spaces). Glass will be the pastry chef at Mike Stollenwerk’s new Fish. [Philly Post]
Matt Moon is consulting at Bishop’s Collar in Fairmount. The former top guy at Talula’s Table will then head over to Michael Schulson’s Sampan as a sous chef this January. We have to wonder if that’s not temporary too, Schulson and Rob Wasserman are opening St. James Place in Ardmore this spring. Could Moon be moving into that head chef position? [The Insider]

The biggest series of the baseball season kicks off tonight. Why not consider one of our Top Ten Phillies bars. We were thinking Bishop’s Collar, it’s been too long since we were in Fairmount.

Did you know it was National Nachos Day? We didn’t either until we saw it on MenuPages. So tonight, why not have some nachos, MenuPages suggests Drinker’s Pub, National Mechanics or Moriarty’s. We haven’t tried any of those but imagine it difficult to beat the nachos at Bishop’s Collar.
We received an interesting tip this morning at Foobooz headquarters, the nachos at Azure might just be the best in the city. Tipster Eric says the Azure chicken nachos are followed closely by the nachos at Bishop’s Collar. And that’s some high praise as we sampled the Collar’s nachos just a couple of Fridays ago and imagine they would be tough to beat.
Any other nominees for where to check out nachos around the area? The comments are open.
