Every week, Philly gay gents share their local picks for Man Crush Monday. This week, Billy Cavallo, bartender, student, and reigning Most Original Stoli Guy. You can see him passing off his local title this week, when five guys compete to represent Philadelphia in the national competition. Details here.
My name is Billy, and these are my local picks for Man Crush Monday.
Rick is amazing, because no matter what he is always happy to see you. He's one of my favorite people to run into because you can sit with him and have a conversation about literally anything. He has such a kind heart. Any guy would be lucky to catch him.
I sometimes wonder when this one finds time to sleep with all that he does (and judging from his 5 a.m. Facebook statuses. I don't think he does). Not only is he one of the most hardworking and visible activists in the community, he has the looks to go along with it. I think it has something to do with those eyes ...
This one can easily light up a room with his smile and laugh. Such a happy-go-lucky person, and so hardworking at the same time. As a flight attendant, he's constantly flying all over the world (which I'm super jealous of). He's off the market but if he wasn't I'm sure there would be a whole slew of suitors lined up to take him out.
Sam Rodriquez (Sammy Boy)
This hunky Latino gets me hot and bothered every time I see him. Sexy, stylish, and a complete sweetheart, this guy is the whole package. We bump into each other in the city a lot, but always in passing. Maybe next time we can linger for a longer chat.
I've known Drew going on five years now, but we've become the best of friends this past year. He is one of the most down-to-Earth guys in this city. Handsome, chill, and a downright sick DJ and producer, he's definitely someone the boys should keep an eye on. Be sure to check out his Soundcloud page, and see him at iCandy, where he can be your entertainment and eye candy all night long.
I've met Chris in the recent months and he is one of the funniest people I've been around in the city. With his "All T, no shade" attitude, he's one of the most open and honest people to sit down and have a kiki with. Alongside that he's also a Philly DJ and a sick dancer.

Billy Cavallo in Andrew Christian’s latest viral video, “Gay & Lucky.”
A few months ago, Gayborhood bartender Billy Cavallo jetted out to L.A. to fulfill one of his requirements as winner of 2013’s Most Original Stoli Guy competition: to film an Andrew Christian video. (You can watch that here.) While he was there, however, filmmakers had him star in another spot that veered away from the underwear retailer’s typical bulge-tastic ads in favor of something a little more heartwarming.

We round up the best gay t-dos happening this week in Philadelphia.
Stoli's national competition, the Key West Cocktail Classic, is coming to Philadelphia on its search to find a bartender who can pour up the "most originally authentic Stolichnaya cocktail." Local Stoli rep Billy Cavallo (pictured) tells me that seven Philly bartenders are competing, including Tony Lantz from U Bar, Johnny Catalina from Venture Inn, and Stephen Brady from Woody's. Whoever wins here will go on to compete in the finale competition in Key West May 29-31. Head around the corner to Venture Inn when the competition's over for Cavallo's weekly #VentureVariety series, starring TriXie Lee De'Flair, Dr. Fame, and Sakura Bee Love. Wednesday, May 14th, 7 p.m., free, Icandy, 254 South 12th Street.
Six Lambda Literary Awards finalists will come together for a reading at Giovanni's Room. Among those taking part is Phil Tiemeyer, author of Plane Queer: Labor, Sexuality, and AIDS in the History of Male Flight Attendants, How Poetry Saved My Life: A Hustler's Memoir's Amber Dawn, and Michael Klein, author of The Talking Day. We're most excited however, for Philly's own Larry Benjamin, who will be reading from his gay romance novel Unbroken, which, as we reported yesterday, just took home a gold prize in the LGBT fiction category at the 2014 Independent Publisher Book awards. For a list of other Philly Lambda Literary Award nominees, go here. Thursday, May 15th, 5:30 p.m., free, Giovanni's Room, 345 South 12th Street.
Gay business cards will be flying at this week's OurNightOut, the monthly networking event hosted by the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund. This time, William Way will take on co-hosting duties in preparation for its 2014 Homecoming on Saturday, June 7th. Thursday, May 15th, 6 p.m., free, Stratus Lounge, 433 Chestnut Street.
Billy Cavallo (far right) in Andrew Christian’s latest video, “Candy Pop.”
Last fall Gayborhood bartender Billy Cavallo won the national Most Original Stoli Guy competition, earning him, among other things, a spot in one of those sexy Andrew Christian videos. He went out to L.A. to record it in January, when he shared with us some behind-the-scenes shots of the shoot, and tonight the video finally debuts.
Watch the video below
Garrett Matthew — photographer to the Gayborhood drag queen community stars — recently released a sexy shot from a photo session he did with RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Manila Luzon when she was in town for “Battle of the Seasons” earlier this month. The provocative pic shows Luzon cradling shirtless local model Billy Cavallo‘s head in her hands, while Cody Allen — also sans shirt — lounges dreamily on top of them.
I was surprised Matthew only revealed one photo from the shoot, which I know must have been good for at least a thousand images. So I asked him if he’d share any behind-the-scenes shots on G Philly. Check out the two he sent me below, each with a little back story from Matthew.

In September, Rowan grad student — and Gayborhood bartender — Billy Cavallo was crowned the 2013 Most Original Stoli Guy in New York City. The title earned him an appearance in one of those drool-worthy Andrew Christian underwear videos, which he filmed last week in L.A. Now he’s back in Philly with some behind-the-scenes stories and photos. He gives us the skinny below:
